Vale Margaret Pugh OAM

Swimming Australia would like to acknowledge and celebrate the life of Life Member Margaret Pugh OAM.

Margaret’s selfless contributions to our sport spanned more than five decades and leave a remarkable legacy that will benefit swimming long into the future.

A trailblazing female leader, Margaret had a distinguished tenure as President of Swimming Queensland in the early 2000’s, including generational reform of the State body’s constitution which laid the foundations for the incredible success of swimming in Queensland in recent years.

More recently, Margaret served as a most valued member of the Swimming Australia Life Member working group for many years.

In addition to Swimming Australia life Membership, Margaret’s service to the sport was recognised with an Order of Australia Medal, an Australian Sports Medal, Swimming Queensland Life Membership, induction into the Swimming Queensland Hall of Fame and a Queensland Sports Federation Service to Sport award.

Swimming Australia would like to extend its most sincere condolences to Margaret’s family and the many, many members of the broader swimming family whose lives she touched.
