Brisbane Aquatic Centre showcase "open house"
Swimming Australia, in partnership with Tourism Events Queensland and Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA), are thrilled to announce today tickets are now on sale for the 2025 Australian Open Championships, starting Easter Monday at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
In what is a multi-million-dollar economic boost to the local economy, Olympic and Paralympic champions and medallists will flex to progress ahead of the countdown to the World Aquatics Championships and the World Para Swimming Championships – both in Singapore – later this year.
Australia’s best young swimmers from across the country will look to upset the status quo with more than 800 athletes expected to hit the water from 21-24 April in what is one of the most affordable sporting events this Easter.
With tickets starting as low as $15, the Australian Open Championships is one of this April’s most affordable school holiday entertainment options for families, friends and fans, and is expected to fill Brisbane Aquatic Centre over the four-day meet.
Swimming Australia CEO Rob Woodhouse said: “The last time our athletes were at this venue, they were booking their ticket to Paris Olympics … and this another chance to see athletes from the number one swimming country in the world have a vital hit out ahead of this year’s World Championships in Singapore.”
“As we build towards the World Championships and then the Commonwealth Games in 2026, establishing high-calibre racing is crucial in shaping and sustaining the Dolphins’ competitive edge.
“This is a great opportunity to see our Olympic and Paralympic athletes compete, and to also preview our LA and Brisbane hopefuls. We look forward to seeing our swimming – and sport – fans fill Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
“We thank TEQ and BEDA for their support of this important event in our national calendar and also for their long-term commitment in wanting to host this event in what has to be one of value-for-money sporting experiences of the Easter school holidays.”
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the 2025 Australian Open Championships would be a chance to witness the country’s biggest swimming event right here in Brisbane.
“We’re thrilled to have the national championships in Brisbane, showcasing the best swimmers in the country and why Brisbane is fast becoming recognised as the sports capital of Australia,” Cr Schrinner said.
“As far as race meets go, it doesn’t get much bigger than this for our up-and-comers who aspire to compete at the Commonwealth Games in 2026, LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
“Away from the pool, thousands of spectators will fill our incredible restaurants, bars, and hotels over the four days, benefitting our local economy.
“The championships are a highlight of our incredible sporting calendar, giving people more to see and do in the suburbs, and we can’t wait for the action to begin.”
For the first time, Swimming Australia is also introducing a FAST LANE for Dolphins’ members in which priority stadium entry will be granted ahead of opening the gates to the general public and Dolphin members and Swim Central members will also be able to purchase pre-sale tickets from February 24.
Ticket sales to the general public will be available from February 26 on Ticketek.
Media accreditation is now open.
The four-day meet will also be available to watch live and free on 9Now thanks to Swimming Australia’s broadcast partner, Channel 9.
