Becoming a technical official is rewarding and an excellent way to contribute to the sport, spend time with your children, create great friendships and gain professional development.
Swimming relies heavily on volunteers to run competitions and events, which are important not only for the development of our athletes but also for the technical officials.
HOW DO I START?
There are many technical official roles that are available across both pool competitions and open water swimming events.
Prior to beginning your training to be a technical official, all persons need to first do the following:
- Become a member of an affiliated swimming club in your state through Swim Central
- Upload on Swim Central a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC, Blue Card or state equivalent)
- Complete the Community Officiating Essential Skills course (COES) through the ASC website (Australian Sport Commission) and
- Upload the COES course completion certificate (not individual modules) onto Swim Central.
You are now ready to begin your technical official learning journey.
