Dolphins invite you to "open" house at Brisbane Aquatic Centre this Easter

O’Callaghan, McEvoy, McKeown, Winnington, Harris, Watson and Hodge.

The names don’t get any bigger with world record holders, Olympic champions, Paralympic gold medallists, and rising stars all in action at the Australian Open Championships.

There’s also a re-energised Italian swimmer by the name of Thomas Ceccon to add some European flair to the four-day program.

From April 21-24, almost 900 athletes will converge on Brisbane Aquatic Centre – including 55 internationals – ahead of the countdown to the World Championships and the World Para Swimming Championships – both in Singapore – later this year.

Opening session of the championships start 10am tomorrow – Easter Monday – and in the water will be Dolphin superstars:

  • World record holder and multiple Olympic gold medallist Kaylee McKeown
  • Multiple Olympic gold medallist Mollie O’Callaghan
  • World champions Sam Williamson and Isaac Cooper
  • Paralympic medallists Tim Hodge and Col Pearse

Italy’s gold medallist Ceccon will make two appearances in the opening session – the 50m fly and 200m backstroke.

Ceccon has been training at St Peters Western and after this week’s nationals will return to Europe to finalise preparations for July’s World Championships in Singapore.

With tickets starting as low as $15, the Australian Open Championships is one of this April’s most affordable school holiday entertainment options for families, friends and fans.

Swimming Australia CEO Rob Woodhouse said: “The last time our athletes were at this venue, they were booking their ticket to Paris Olympics and Paralympics  … and this is a chance to see our athletes have a vital hit out ahead of this year’s World Championships in Singapore.”

“This is a great opportunity to see our Olympic and Paralympic athletes compete, and to also preview our LA and Brisbane hopefuls. We look forward to seeing our swimming – and sport – fans fill Brisbane Aquatic Centre.

“We thank Tourism and Events Queensland and Brisbane Economic Development Agency for their support of this important event in our national calendar and also for their long-term commitment in wanting to host this event in what has to be one of the best value-for-money sporting experiences of the Easter school holidays.”

Tickets are available from Ticketek and the four-day meet will also be available to watch live and free on 9Now thanks to Swimming Australia’s broadcast partner, Channel 9.

The 2025 Australian Age and Open Championships are proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland and Brisbane City Council through Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
