Karen Macleod awarded Life Membership

Swimming Australia wishes to congratulate Karen Macleod OAM who has been granted Life Membership after being nominated and endorsed by the Swimming Australia Member Organisations.

This is a well deserved honour for Macleod who has volunteered over 20,000 hours of time to the swimming community at local, state and national level.

She is currently the National Events Technical Manager overseeing the technical running of events at a national level, has been involved with the sport for over 37 years where she has been appointed to a range of roles that include mentoring Technical Officials through the pathway and serving on the FINA (World Aquatics) panel of international referees.

She was awarded an OAM in 2023 for her service to swimming, named Swimming Australia’s Technical Official of the year in 2005, and granted Life Membership of Miami Swimming Club in the year 2000, of Swimming Gold Coast in 2009 and of Swimming Queensland in 2014 in recognition of her outstanding work for each of those organisations.
