The Riverside Wrap from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games: Day 2
The Dolphins’ 2024 Olympic campaign has come to an end, with Nick Sloman and Kyle Lee taking on the river Seine in the Men’s 10km open water event this afternoon.
In the last event of the Olympics for our Dolphins, Sloman and Lee maintained their position in the middle of the pack while Hungarian Kristof Rasovszky and German Oliver Klemet lead all swimmers after the first lap.
After the second lap, Sloman was in ninth place and fellow Aussie Kyle Lee was not far behind in twelfth position, as both aimed to keep their place as the leading swimmers.
Sloman fell to eleventh place after four laps as he tried to keep in touch with the leaders.
Tokyo silver medallist Kristof Rasovszky went one better during the race, holding onto his lead and winning gold with an impressive time of 1:50:52.7.
It was a phenomenal effort from our dolphins as Sloman finished 11th (1:56:24.4) with Kylee Lee finishing not far behind in 13th (1:56:42.5) after what was a gruelling swim in the river Seine which saw six competitors unable to finish the race.
It was a bittersweet end to an incredible Olympic Campaign featuring iconic moments, and historic wins, as our Dolphins cemented their legacy in the water and captivated the nation.
Every single member of the Dolphins Pod did their country proud in Paris, bring on the 2028 games in Los Angeles!
