Bio

Ella Jones was born in Penrith New South Wales and began learning how to swim in a small backyard pool.

Ella, who has cerebral palsy, only began swimming competitively when she was 15 years old at the Springwood Swimming Club.

In 2018, after only three years as a swimmer, she returned from the Australian Age Swimming Championships with a medal haul, winning silver in the 100m freestyle, 50m backstroke and freestyle, and bronze in the 400m freestyle and 100m backstroke.

In 2019, Ella made her Para Dolphins debut when she was selected to compete in the World Para-swimming Championships in London, where she reached the finals of the Women’s 50 m Freestyle S8 and Women’s 4×100 m Freestyle.

She made her Commonwealth Games debut in 2022, reaching the final of the 100m backstroke S8 and 100m breaststroke SB6 in Birmingham.

She was selected to the Para World Swimming Championship for the second time in 2023, after she achieved a personal best time in the 100metre freestyle swim at the trials. Ella booked her ticket to Paris after qualifying times in the 100m freestyle and 400m freestyle in the Australian Swimming Trials.
