Bio

Madeline McTernan first represented Australia on the international stage when she competed at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, where she placed fifth in the Women’s 100m Backstroke (S14). The following year, McTernan broke a world record in the Women’s 400m Freestyle (S14) at the 2020 Australian Short Course Championships with a time of 4:35.56 seconds.

McTernan attended her first Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2020, where she won a silver medal in the Mixed 4x100m Relay (S14) and placed fourth in the Women’s 100m Backstroke (S14). She has been selected to compete in the Paris Paralympic Games this year.
