Six Pack Preview: Day 2 Aus Age Champs
TWO national records have already fallen – what will the rising stars of Australian swimming do on Day 2 of the Australian Age Championships at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre?
Up for grabs is selection for the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Vancouver this August but long term, the search is on for the next wave to carry the Dolphins to the LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
Watch the likes of Lincoln Wearing, who last year crushed Dolphin Mack Horton’s 800m free record, and exceptional all-round athlete Bianca Rayward – a member of both the Junior Aussie Life Saving Team and the Aussie Junior Sprint Kayak Team – hit the water today.
Swimmers’ Six Pack
Lincoln Wearing, 16 | Chandler, QLD – 800m Freestyle
Lincoln Wearing shot into the spotlight at last year’s Age Nationals when he broke Olympic medallist Mack Horton’s 800m freestyle national age record and picked up five golds. Wearing trains at Chandler with his twin brother Isaac and the pair are a dominant force, often standing on the podium together. The Wearing twins will line up next to each other in today’s 800m freestyle.
Lily Koch, 17 | Melbourne Vicentre, VIC – 100m Breaststroke
A competitive breaststroke and medley swimmer from Melbourne Vicentre, Lily Koch represented Australia at the 2025 World Junior Championships. Koch holds a string of Victorian Age records, predominately in the breaststroke events. The 17-year-old has been going stroke for stroke with Dolphin Sienna Toohey and the pair will battle it out for gold in today’s 100m breaststroke.
Grayson Doig, 18 | Trinity Grammar, NSW – 100m Butterfly
A proud Walbunja man from Yuin country, Grayson Doig was an athlete ambassador of the AIS ‘Share a Yarn’ Program in 2025. The Trinity Grammar athlete won three silver medals at last year’s National Age Championships as well as gold in the 200m individual medley – an event he is the four-time consecutive champion of in his age group.
Macey Sheridan, 16 | Darwin, NT – 50m Freestyle
Macey Sheridan made history when she was crowned 2025 NT Sportsperson of the Year and become the youngest recipient of the title. Sheridan is a freestyle and backstroke specialist within her age group. At last year’s Age Championships she won the 100m freestyle and the 50m and 100m backstroke. She also picked up bronze in the 50m freestyle but the Darwin swimmer has been going from strength to strength in recent months and is a hot chance for gold in today’s event.
Amelie Smith, 17 | Rocky City, QLD – 400m Freestyle
Already a gold medallist in last night’s 200 IM, the Rockhampton swimmer is making a name for herself in the pool and the open water. Smith (pictured) contested this year’s Australian Open Water Championships where she picked up two medals – 5km silver and 10km bronze. In the pool, Smith is also one to watch across the form strokes, a champion butterfly and individual medley swimmer.
Lucas Fackerell, 18 | Hale, WA – 200m Freestyle
Always a headline act at the Australian Age Championships, Lucas Fackerell has been consistently at the top of his age group and is a back-to-back champion of the 200m, and 400m freestyle. Fackerell will enter today’s 200m freestyle event as the favourite.
