Become an Australian Swim Coach Today!
Becoming an Australian Swim Coach marks the beginning of a fulfilling role that develops young athletes, reinforces community connection, and supports the ongoing growth of Australian swimming. Under the Swimming Australia National Coaching Framework (SANCF), the learning journey is streamlined, practical, and aligned with modern coaching principles that prioritise coach and athlete wellbeing, foster positive environments, and build strong technical foundations.
There are three Steps to become a Recognised Australian Swim Coach:
-
- Complete Prerequisite Learning – online or blended
- Complete the Australian Swim Coach Course – e-learning, face-to-face workshop, practical experience.
- Activate your Australian Swim Coach Licence
The pathway begins with the completion of a Swimming Australia endorsed pre-requisite course. It then progresses through the completion of the Australian Swim Coach Course (currently called Development Coaching Course) which is the minimum course requirement to obtain an Australian Swim Coach Licence, to be approved to coach Swimming in Australia. The Australian Swim Coach Course includes a blend of online learning and an in-person workshops. Course candidates are supported with practical tools, real-world coaching experiences, and ongoing development to set them up for success in their first twelve months and beyond.
