Six Pack Preview: Day 8 Aus Age Champs
TO RECAP: The penultimate night of the Australian Age Championships featured three national records, numerous PBs and one pool brimming with prodigious talent.
In the race of the night, Leny Grigor shattered the 16y boys’ 200m IM national age record, Lukas Dunn (2:01.30) also went under the old mark to win silver and Lucy Ma and Molly Young claimed their seventh gold medal.
The Australian Junior Dolphins team to compete at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships in Canada later this year will be announced tonight on pool deck.

Diesel Williams, Kincoppal-Rose Bay, NSW | 16y Boys’ 100m Breaststroke
Hailing from Sydney, Diesel Williams lines up in a stacked 100m breaststroke event that features three record-breakers from this meet. Christopher Montana (Trinity Grammar) broke the 16y boys’ 50m breaststroke national age record in the heats (28.32) and once again in the final (27.84). Leny Grigor is back after smashing the 200m IM 16-year boys’ national age record last night (2:00.53).
Lilla Ribot-De-Bresac, Newmarket Racers, QLD | 16y Girls’ 100m Butterfly
The great sporting legacy of the Ribot name lives on through Brisbane 2032 hopeful Lilla Ribot-De-Bresac. Granddaughter to John Ribot – a founder of the Brisbane Broncos – Lilla (pictured) is reigning champion in the 16-year girls’ 50m, 100m 200m breaststroke. Ribot-De-Bresac trains at the same club where Olympian Lizzy Dekkers first made her start – the Newmarket Racers.
Lewis Jewell, City of Sydney, NSW | 13y Boys’ 200m Butterfly
JEWELL OF THE POOL: Thirteen-year-old Lewis Jewell has certainly made a mark at his first Age Nationals winning four golds in his age group. The up-and-comer from City of Sydney has claimed the 100m and 200m freestyle and the 50m and 100m butterfly national titles and he is the fastest 13-year-old entrant in today’s 200m butterfly.
Delta Cross, Highlanders, WA | 17y Girls’ 800m Freestyle
Training under Ryan Steenkamp at Highlanders, Delta Cross will battle it out with fellow distance specialists Amelie Smith and Ava Gaske in the 17-year girls’ 800m freestyle. Between the three of them, Cross, Smith and Gaske have stacked up 11 medals – five of which are gold all awarded to Rocky City standout Smith. Gaske hails from Chandler’s stable of distance freestylers which includes Ava Hogan and the Wearing twins.
Ollie Moclair, Cranbrook, NSW | 18y Boys’ 50m Butterfly
The 18y boys’ 50m freestyle national champion Ollie Moclair ripped a 21.73 in the heats and broke his own national age record (22.04). Had he not been turning 19 in August, Moclair would have set a Junior World Record. Moclair lines up in the 50m fly against USC Spartans Luke Montes and Marion’s Logan Turra both of whom boast seed times under 25-seconds.
Roxanne Albertyn, Miami, QLD | 14y Girls’ 100m Freestyle
The defending 100m freestyle champion of her age group, Roxanne Albertyn is an up-and-comer from Miami to watch. Albertyn took out gold in the 14y girls’ 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle as well as a silver in the 200m individual medley. Hot on her feet will be Marion’s Saoirse Hannify – the only other entrant with a seed time sub-58 seconds – and MLC Aquatic’s Lucy Ma – a 7x gold medallist this meet.
Heats start 9am AEST. Finals from 6pm AEST.
