Names To Highlight:
Grace Brimelow | Sunshine Coast Grammar, QLD
Grace Brimelow (pictured) is set to make waves on the runway to LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Games but whether that is in swimming or para-triathlon – or both – remains to be seen. Brimelow has already made her Paralympic debut in Paris 2024 for Para-triathlon but the Sunshine Coast Grammar athlete is also a keen swimmer and striving to compete in both on the world stage. In the pool, Brimelow is an S9 swimmer who claimed silver in last night’s 400m freestyle final. Today. she will contest the 100m and 50m freestyle.
Callum Simpson | Flinders Phoenix, QLD
Australia’s most successful swimmer at the 2025 World Para Championships with five medals – three of them gold – wants to claim a six pack of glitter at his final Australian MC Age Championships. Already this weekend, Simpson claimed gold in the boys’ 16-18 years 400m freestyle and dove in for the 100m breaststroke. The Flinders Phoenix swimmer will celebrate his 19th birthday in six days.
Alyssa Gillespie | Knox Pymble, NSW
Alyssa Gillespie is a budding breaststroker in the SB8 classification who has impressed Glasgow selectors with competitive times and won gold in last night’s girls’ 16-18 years 100m breaststroke final. At 2025 Trials in Adelaide, Gillespie won the women’s multi class 50m backstroke and set two Australian Age records in the 50m and 100m SB8 breaststroke. She will contest the 50m breaststroke today as well as the 100m backstroke.
Hamish Keenan | Western Melbourne Propulsion Club, VIC
Coached by Seb Bettiol at Western Melbourne Propulsion, Hamish Keenan’s Paralympic potential has been recognised by his selection for Swimming Australia’s 2025/26 national Flippers squad. Keenan was born without his left forearm and recently competed at the 2026 World Para Series on the Gold Coast against a stack of Paralympic stars, including fellow S9 athlete and Para star Tim Hodge.
Jed Toohey | Albury, NSW
Jed Toohey has two inspirations – Cam McEvoy and his older sister Sienna, Australia’s youngest Dolphin at the 2025 Singapore World Championships. The S19 lined up for the first time at an Australian championships yesterday and placed fifth in the boys’ 14-15 years 50m backstroke final. Today, Toohey has a stacked schedule with the 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
Sahrah Hancock | Darwin, NT
Sahrah Hancock was one of three finalists for the 2026 Para-Athlete of the Year at the Northern Territory Sport Awards. The S6 athlete representing Darwin set a 100m backstroke Australian MC Age record last month in her 15-year-old girls age group. Hancock has already picked up a gold in the 100m breaststroke and she will contest six events in total across the weekend.
