Bio

Growing up on the Sunshine Coast, at just two years old, Callum was told he wouldn’t be able to run, jump or swim like other children as he got older.

But despite his diagnosis of Chromosome 2q deletion his parents increased his swimming lessons as a form of therapy to build strength and help his left and right side of his body to work together.

These lessons paid off as Callum won two gold medals for the 50m backstroke and the 4x50m relay, and three silver medals for the individual 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly at the School Sport Australia Swimming Nationals in 2018.

In 2023, he was named in the Para Flippers Development Squad and in 2024 he was selected to the Madeira 2024 Para Swimming Open Championships.

Simpson made his Paralympic debut at the Paris Games in 2024 and proved that he is a rising star to watch out for.

He took home two gold medals, one from the Men’s 100m Freestyle S8 – winning by just 0.02 of a second – and as relay swimmer in the Mixed 4x100m Freestyle Relay 34pts.

Simpson has proved that this is just the start of an incredible Paralympic career and will now look towards LA 2028.
