Bio

For Harrison Vig, the water has always felt like home. Growing up in Brisbane, he’d spend every holiday at the Gold Coast beaches, never imagining those ocean swims would one day lead him onto the Australian Dolphins swim team.
Born without a tibia in his right leg and undergoing a knee amputation before pre-school, Harrison discovered early that grit would define his journey.
His breakthrough year came in 2022, beginning with a tour to the United States for the World Para Series then making his Dolphins debut as an S9 swimmer at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where he placed fourth in the men’s 100m backstroke S9 – an eye-opening debut to racing the world’s best.
At home, Harrison has found a second base at the University of Queensland, moving between pool deck and lecture halls as he studies Computer Science and trains under coach David Heyden. That balance of books and blocks paid off at the 2025 Trials, where his grit secured a second Dolphins cap and selection for the 2025 World Para Swimming Championships.
Looking ahead, Harrison is determined to keep building on each milestone, continue his studies and most importantly wear the green and gold all the way through to the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.
POD POP OUT STAT: As a kid Harrison wanted to be a palaeontologist (despite never seeing Friends) but now his dreams lie in swimming lanes, not dinosaur bones.
