You can’t see the Forrester for the trees.

Until now.

With so many stars amongst Dean Boxall’s squad at St Peter’s Western, medley swimmer Jenna Forrester was quietly going about her business until a breakout 2023 broke her cover.

The talented 21-year-old’s big international leap came in the form of a bronze medal at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka where she ripped a massive PB of 4:32.30 in the final to secure a bronze medal.

She also placed 4th in the 200 IM in a best time of 2:08.98 and 8th in the 200 back (2:11.44).

South African-born Jenna had followed her older sister into swimming as a youngster and tasted early success as a junior.

Jenna, who grew up in Brisbane, won nine gold medals at the 2017 Australian Age Championships before earning selection for the 2017 World Junior Championships in Indianapolis, at the age of just 13.

Still eligible for the world juniors’ team two years later, Jenna then collected silver as part of the 4x200m freestyle relay in Budapest.

Jenna won her maiden Australian title in 2021 in the 400m individual medley and repeated her success at selection trials in Adelaide two months later, but her time was outside the selection standard for Tokyo.

At the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, she reached the final of 400m individual medley. She also reached the final at the world championships in Budapest just prior to Birmingham.

Making her Games debut, Jenna is no longer flying under the radar.

POD POP UP STAT: Jenna is ranked number three on the Australian all-time list for the 400 IM behind recently crowned Australian record holder Kaylee McKeown (Griffith University) and 2008 Olympic champion Stephanie Rice.
